Debra Dickerson and I were lucky enough to be invited to sail Cunard’s beautiful Queen Victoria on a little 4 day West Coast getaway! The moment we stepped onboard, we were in awe…from the three-tier Grand Lobby, spectacular artwork throughout the ship, the Queens Room Ballroom with crystal chandeliers and richly decorated walls…it was all amazing!!!

We traveled in an Inside stateroom, since I hadn’t sailed in an inside in over 20+ years I was reluctant, but am happy to report that the Inside Staterooms are spacious. Large enough for two people to be quite comfortable. We were in a mid ship, great location (less movement) - although we did seem to hear noises at night. In addition to the twin beds, our room had a nice vanity area and a two-three person sofa. However, the bathroom did not have a bathtub. Additionally, the TV did not offer a large variety of channels which could be disappointing on a long voyage. Our room Steward was very nice and friendly and our room was clean.
Spa Hydropool
Around the ship there were several little bars and seating areas with a very homey feeling. Our group met in Hemispheres a few times, which has lovely 270-degree views and turns into a disco in the evening. The Spa was very pretty and prices were competitive. The pool area was nice and the gym was well equipped with newer fitness equipment. We also really enjoyed that the Casino is non-smoking. The Golden Lion Pub, was a little noisy at times, but offered great food and had a three-piece band playing live music.
Daniel’s ideas and techniques of How-To Trade Your Talents For Free Luxury Cruises! were so easy to understand and readily applicable that I was able to get booked with a cruise line before I even finished the material.

Guests in staterooms A1-D8 dine in the Britannia Restaurant, which we thought was, unfortunately, only fair. There were not very many options; Cunard seemed to be missing the standard, always available items such as a simple chicken dish, Caesar salad, etc. Dining room service overall was good; however, our waiter was a little reluctant when I asked for a Caesar salad (that was not on the menu that evening, as it had been the night before). The Buffet didn’t offer a lot of choices either, however the food was good with the pizza and pasta being the most popular. The Pool Grill had typical fare and was good. Debra snuck up to see the Queen’s Grill and Princess Grill dining venues, reserved exclusively for guests booked in suites by the same name. The spaces were large and beautiful, and they have an interconnecting interior courtyard with outdoor dining that would be lovely to dine in. The menus were more

"Speak on Cruise Ships: Eight Easy Steps to a Lifetime of Free Cruises" by Daniel Hall is a magical book. My thought was, "Why hasn't someone written this before?" It is clearly presented and covers any problems that might come up.

extensive than in the Britannia dining room and they boasted top quality meats. The Grills also have their own sun decks with very nice chairs and loungers.
In closing, the Queen Victoria is a gorgeous ship and we wish we had more than four days to sail aboard her. The staff onboard was always attentive and the dining staff was awesome. Queen Victoria will be departing on West Coast sailings again December 2011 – February 2012. If you are interested, please give us a call. Space sells quickly and opportunities are limited.
