Vacations To Go Cruise Newsletter
Do you like this story?
Dear Mr. Zizou,
Cruise lines often offer special discounts for Vacations To Go customers who live in certain states or provinces (regional discounts), customers who are 55 or older, airline employees, police, firefighters, EMTs, teachers, active and retired military personnel and cruise past passengers.
Vacations To Go offers a feature, unique in the cruise industry, that allows us to show you every special discount for which you are eligible, whenever you browse our site. These special rates don't apply to every sailing but when they are in effect, they are the lowest available.
If you have not yet updated your Vacations To Go Account to make sure you see the biggest discounts for which you are eligible, please click here to do so now. It will take only a moment.
Norwegian Cruise Lines is offering Vacations To Go customers exclusive discounts of up to 73% on a variety of sailings in the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and Bermuda. These specials must be booked by April 10, click here for dates and prices. On top of these special rates, Norwegian is also offering our customers exclusive shipboard credits of $150 per cabin on certain Mediterranean sailings on the Norwegian Epic. Click here for dates and prices.
Crystal Cruises, one of just four six-star cruise lines in the world, has just announced that beginning in 2012, their pricing and onboard experience will become more all-inclusive.
Crystal already features a variety of included services and amenities that most cruise lines charge extra for, such as soft drinks, specialty coffees, specialty restaurant dining and certain fitness classes.
Starting with the March 19, 2012 sailing of the Crystal Symphony and the May 8, 2012 sailing of the Crystal Serenity, the upfront cruise price will also include complimentary fine wines and premium spirits, open bar service in all lounges and prepaid gratuities for housekeeping, bar and dining staff, and butler service (offered with Penthouse accommodations).
This is a significant change for the company, one that puts them on par with the other six-star lines and one that I believe will pay off.

Late last month, the newest cruise port in Jamaica -- the Port of Falmouth -- celebrated its grand opening with the docking of Royal Caribbean's 5400-passenger Oasis of the Seas. The grand opening comes nearly a year after the originally scheduled opening date, which was postponed several times due to construction delays. (The unofficial opening of the port occurred in February with the arrival of the Voyager of the Seas.)
Falmouth is located on Jamaica's north coast, 18 miles east of Montego Bay. It was a vital colonial settlement during the 18th century, when the town served as the center of Jamaica's sugar and rum industries, and is now known for being one of the Caribbean's best-preserved Georgian towns. The development of the cruise port in Falmouth reflects the town's history and includes the refurbishment of local shopping districts, entertainment venues and restaurants. The terminal itself is located close to a number of well-known Jamaican tourist attractions.
Falmouth's two-berth cruise terminal was a project developed by Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. and the Port Authority of Jamaica, at a cost of $220 million. The port area is still a work in progress -- the restoration and preservation of several buildings in the area continues today. Additional phases of development will include more on-site attractions, hotel and residential developments, and additional retail and restaurant options.
Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Pullmantur, Carnival, Holland America and Norwegian have all announced itineraries visiting Falmouth in 2011 and 2012.

On April 1, Ambassadors International, Inc., the parent company of Windstar Cruises, announced that the company had filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 and had agreed to sell Windstar to private investment firm Whippoorwill Associates, Inc.
We have been assured by Ambassadors and Windstar that they intend to continue regular operations and maintain five-star service levels throughout the reorganization and change in ownership. Whippoorwill has agreed to provide $10 million in financing to facilitate that plan.
Representatives from Ambassadors and Whippoorwill said the sale of the line will enable Windstar to emerge financially stronger and in a position to grow in the future.
Windstar operates a fleet of three intimate, tall-sail ships, sailing to destinations in Europe, Central America and the Caribbean.
