The Cost Of A Gold Coast Fishing Charter

by Kim Raymond

Gold Coast fishing charters range in price from $90-$140 AUD for a half day trip (five hours) or $110-$200 AUD for a full day trip (nine hours).

Though price is a major consideration for many people, it is important to be clear about what you are specifically getting when you book a Gold Coast fishing charter.

You may very well be bragging to family and friends about the great price you paid for a Gold Coast fishing charter. But think for a moment about your state of mind at the end of the day. What will speak loudest: the price you paid or the quality of lack there-of of your experience?

Paying a low price for a Gold Coast fishing charter might mean that there are so many people on the boat that you have no room to move, an aluminum boat that sends shock waves through every joint in your body when you hit a wave, fishing over reefs that have been fished to death already, a captain who is more of a 'wanna be' rather than a seasoned sailor and crap food and drinks.

On the other hand, if you are prepared to spend a little more for your Gold Coast fishing charter it could mean that you have room to move on the boat and not be forever untangling fishing lines with that of others who are fishing, enjoy the comfort and safety of a larger fiberglass hulled boat, going further out to sea where fish tend to be larger and more plentiful, a seasoned captain who knows every reef and knows exactly how to read ocean currents and weather patterns, restaurant quality food and drinks and more.

Let me add too that it is not necessarily a given that you get what you pay for when you purchase a Gold Coast fishing charter. You may pay top dollar but 'be taken for a ride' in terms of quality of experience. Unfortunately, as in all industries, there are scammers or people who just want your money and care little about their reputation.

So if you are a newbie to a Gold Coast fishing charter, how should you approach the question of what charter company to choose? Here are my three key tips in deciding the right Gold Coast fishing charter company that is best for you and your group. Firstly, prioritize what is most important to you. Is it catching lots of/biggest fish? Is it having a comfortable day on the ocean? Is it safety? Secondly, contact at least three Gold Coast fishing charter companies and ask them lots of questions. Be as specific as possible. Thirdly, look for social proof ie check reviews of different Gold Coast fishing charter operators by going online or asking family or friends who have already experienced a Gold Coast fishing charter.
