Such small vessels may not pose any threat or danger to anyone; hence their exclusion from the systematic combination of lights.
A combination of green, white and red marine navigation lights can also be place on the mast of the ship. The height of the mast makes it easily visible far and wide to many oncoming ships it is even visible in times when visibility is low. This combination of marine navigation system help to indicate the identity of the oncoming ships.
