Vacations To Go Cruise Newsletter
Do you like this story?
Dear Mr. Zizou,
I'd like to start today with a special offer we've negotiated with Royal Caribbean exclusively for Vacations To Go customers. Book select sailings departing between now and the end of this year and receive shipboard credits of $100 to $150 per cabin. Click here for dates and prices.
Uniworld Boutique River Cruises sails itineraries on the legendary rivers of Europe, Russia, Egypt, China, Vietnam and Cambodia on a fleet of beautifully designed ships that carry an average of just 130 guests.
Uniworld's value-packed vacations include elegant accommodations and freshly prepared traditional cuisine that received top ratings in a Zagat survey. The line's onboard amenities and flawless service -- delivered in conjunction with sister company, the award-winning Red Carnation Hotel Collection -- and fully guided shore excursions are also covered in the upfront price.
Right now, Uniworld is offering Vacations To Go customers exclusive savings of $2000 to $3000 per couple ($1000 to $2000 per person) off the price of certain 2011 and early 2012 river cruises in Europe and Russia, including a few Holiday Markets departures this winter. Book by June 17, click here for dates and prices.
To take advantage of even greater savings, Vacations To Go customers can save an additional $200 per couple ($100 per person) off any Uniworld Boutique River Cruise worldwide. Book by June 6, click here for dates and prices.
Uniworld has just released their full lineup of 2012 Boutique River Cruises. Click here for a complete listing of 2011 and 2012 itineraries and current specials.
In early April, I reported that Ambassadors International, Inc., the parent company of Windstar Cruises, had voluntarily entered bankruptcy with an agreement to sell substantially all its assets to private investment firm Whippoorwill Associates, Inc. Whippoorwill had agreed to provide $10 million in new financing under a debtor-in-possession credit facility to help Windstar maintain its regular operations during the reorganization and change in ownership.
However, on May 17, TAC Cruise LLC, an affiliate of Xanterra Parks & Resorts, submitted the highest bid of about $39 million for Windstar Cruises in an auction held by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware. Xanterra is owned by billionaire entrepreneur Philip Anschutz, who also owns a number of US sports venues and franchises, including the Los Angeles Lakers, LA Galaxy, LA Kings and the Staples Center, where the Lakers and Kings play. This is his first investment in a cruise line.
Xanterra has operated in the hospitality and leisure industry for more than 100 years, and Windstar will be operated as a wholly owned subsidiary. The sale was completed last week, and all of Windstar's ships are sailing as scheduled, serving customers and guests with the usual high level of service. For a list of upcoming Windstar cruises, including newly released 2012 sailings, click here.
Princess discontinued their seasonal sailings from the port of Galveston, TX in 2007, but the company has announced plans to return to this Gulf Coast city for the 2012/2013 winter season.
Between December 2012 and April 2013, the Crown Princess will offer a series of 7-night cruises departing from Galveston and visiting Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; and Belize City, Belize.

In my recent "Questions & Answers" newsletter, I shared some suggestions for people who are prone to motion sickness. I heard from quite a few customers with additional suggestions, including aromatic inhalers, oils applied behind the ears and various over-the-counter and prescription drugs available around the world.
Several people recommended something called the Relief Band, which delivers tiny electrical pulses on the underside of the wrist. This product apparently is no longer manufactured, but a similar product called Reletex is now on the market.
I can't personally vouch for these other suggestions but I do want to point out one other important factor for those prone to seasickness -- cabin location. To minimize the amount of motion you feel while cruising, choose a mid-ship stateroom on a lower deck. Booking early ensures the best selection of cabin locations.
