The Boom In Sarasota Luxury Homes
by Marc Rasmussen
With a reputation for being heaven on earth, it is no wonder that the real estate market in Sarasota is having its strongest surge since 2005. Certainly this Gulf coast region of south Florida has a lot to offer its residents. Sugary white beaches, incredible sunsets and a lifestyle that encompasses recreational and cultural amenities in abundance, make the market in Sarasota luxury homes an active one in 2011.
Linked by a series of causeways and bridges, Sarasota is actually eight small islands or keys located along the Gulf cost of Florida, just north of Fort Myers and south of Tampa Bay. Communities on these keys each have their own distinct energy and style.
Take Bird Key, for instance. This petite island community is famous with boating enthusiasts for its natural harbor facilities. In addition to a world class yacht club, many of the canal and waterfront properties here have their own docking facilities.
Casey Key, on the other hand, is more known for its diverse architecture, a remarkable mix of old Key West, Spanish and Mediterranean styles. There is little high rise or condominium development with most homes being single dwellings, some of them estates that span the width of the 8 mile long island, Gulf to bay. The vibe here is old Florida charm from the pristine white beach park that commands the south end of the island to the old world swing bridge at the north end.
St. Armand's Circle, by contrast, is a sophisticated centre of commercial hustle and bustle. First developed by circus pioneer John Ringling, the Circle was designed after the European style as a hub of shopping and entertainment. Today it boasts world-class restaurants and clubs, museums, great shopping and the gorgeous Lido Beach, in addition to a small number of exclusive homes.
The most recent addition to the Lakewood Ranch area, just east of downtown is known as lake Club. A planned village of single dwelling homes on larger than average lots, this community is surrounded by lake, nature reserves and deluxe golfing greens. The largest certified green community in the US, Lake Club takes its name from its country club which boasts a legacy golf course designed by Arnold Palmer.
Sun-seekers looking to purchase property in south Florida would do well to research Sarasota as a real estate destination. Home-buyers looking for a unique blend of stunning natural beauty and civilized sophistication in city living will find they have lots to choose from in Sarasota luxury homes.
