Noteworthy US Marinas
by Kristen Wesch
With summer months ahead, many boaters are in the vacationing state of mind. Sometimes the most difficult part of planning a perfect vacation is deciding where to go. I have a few suggestions for those of you who are thinking about a boating vacation. Here are four of the most desirable marina destinations for boaters in the US.
The Bahamas are a popular destination for many boaters. The islands are extremely entertaining and beautiful. Bimini Big Game Resort in the Bahamas hosts a newly renovated marina that caters to even the pickiest of vacationers. They offer 51 rooms and cottages for those who choose not to stay aboard their boat. Guests of the marina can enjoy ameneties such as free Wi-Fi internet, free cable tv connections and 24 hour security for added peace of mind. Located amongst a wide variety of marina-side restaurants and recreational activity facilities, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
If the clear blue waters and powder white beaches of the Gulf of Mexico sound enticing to you the Beau Rivage Resort Marina should be your heading. Located in Biloxi, Mississippi, the Beau Rivage Resort Marina provides a level of excellence unequaled in the marine world. They offer 35 slips as well as a floating deck that can accommodate vessels anywhere from 50 to 200 feet. They have a menu of services for marina valet patrons that leaves very little to be desired. As an added bonus, you can tell your friends that you stayed at the most expensive marina ever built (on a per-slip basis).
For those of you that enjoy the clear blue waters and white powder beaches of the Gulf, the marina at Beau Rivage resort in Biloxi Mississippi may be more your style. On a per-slip basis, the marina at Beau Rivage holds the bragging rights of being the most expensive marina ever built. They offer 35 slips and a floating deck that can accommodate yachts up to 200 feet in length. Their full menu of available services leaves little to be desired. Whether you plan on staying for a night or a week, you can rest assured you will be well taken care of.
For those of you that just want unadulterated luxury, may I suggest the marina at the Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island, Bahamas. It is the premier facility in the Bahamas and it is even said that it rivals the legendary Marina of Monte Carlo. The marina is directly accessible from Nassau Harbor. A 100' wide channel located to the west of Paradise Island bridge provides easy access for sailboats as there are no mast-height restrictions. Guests of the marina are treated to all of the services and amenities offered by the resort. The marina offers 63 mega yacht slips, and several lay-alongside berths with no beam width restrictions. This resort marina has definitely earned it's accolades!
If its vacation time and you're wondering how and where to enjoy it, wonder no more. Each of these marinas has been time-tested and boater-approved as vacation destinations. The only decision you have to make now is which one to head for.
