Are you thinking that it is time to take a leisurely vacation? How about checking out the cruises from Southampton? Whether you are coming or going on a cruise, Southampton is a city that you will not want to miss seeing or exploring!

If you are going on a cruise in the near future and it is leaving from Southampton, why not plan a few extra days and discover this historical city. There are many things here to keep you amused, like the Maritime Museum, the Tudor House and Garden, God's House Tower Museum of Archaeology and Westgate Hall. Find out that the heritage stretches as far back as the Stone Age and throughout the Roman era, WWII and much more.

Maybe take time after your cruises from Southampton to stay for a couple more days and see what else is on offer, such as the Southampton City Art Gallery. For younger holidaymakers, the city is a shopping Mecca, with the giant West Quays not too far from the dock, spanning all the way into the city centre.

It is also a top destination for culture and entertainment. The Mayflower Theatre is located here, where they host such performances as the Welsh National Opera or the English National Ballet, Les Miserables` or the Rocky Horror Show. Move on over to the Nuffield Theatre base on the Highfield campus at the University of Southampton for even more entertainment. They host shows like The Maskers, the University players, routing companies and the local talent of performing societies.

The city of Southampton is home to 235,000 people of all backgrounds, including two universities, so you can just imagine the diversity which you will experience. Culture, history, archaeology, music, shopping and food. Over the road from West Quays, towards the docks you can check out Leisure World which is a were you will find a diverse entertainment mix including the Grosvenor Casino, multi screen cinema and the Oceana nightclub as well as more restaurants and bars. From international cuisine to historic pubs, there is something for everyone.
