Relaxing vacation travel
by John Lynch
Many people today are deeply stressed by their day to day lives. Travel is a great way to get away from all of the stress of work and looking after the house and see the world.
Some people may prefer to travel locally, perhaps on a road trip, staying in a motel or quaint roadside inns. This is a great option because it means that you have a car at your destination and you don't have to deal with the hassles of airline security. Further, this kind of vacation is a great way to save money on flights and rentals.
For others, a good vacation may mean jetting off to a timeshare or vacation rental to relax on the beach. Many people like to head for Hawaii or the Dominican for their honeymoon and why not? With no distraction, the new couple is free to get in some me time.
Still others may prefer to spend their holidays across the pond in Europe, sight-seeing. Although this type of vacation can be the most expensive, it can also be the most educational. For the kind of person who likes to always be on the go, seeing and doing new things, going on a holiday to Europe or a cultural destination in South America, Asia or Africa may be a great experience. In some places, luxury hotels may be much cheaper, making this a great way to get away from the stress of modern life.
When planning vacation travel, a good rule of thumb if you're venturing further afield is the more expensive it is to get there, the cheaper it is at the destination. While you may be able to save money on tickets to destinations like New York and Paris, the cost of hotels and food will always be high. For other destinations, like India and Thailand, plane tickets may be the expense. In some places food and accommodation are nearly free.
There are great options for vacations on every budget, whether it's a week in the next state or a month on a tour of French vineyards. A get-away may be just what you need to recharge your batteries and get a fresh perspective.
